If you missed The Cedarville University (CU) Lady Yellow Jackets’ last Home Game (on Thursday, December 1, 2016), you should consider yourself to be a very unlucky “Sports Fan!” By the Final Score of 72-66, the Lady Yellow Jackets defeated The Ohio Christian University (OCU) Lady Trailblazers. However, get this. The game was not just your “Ordinary College Basketball Game!” After DOUBLE OVERTIME PLAY, the game ended! If you want to know everything which happened, please go back to: “Varsity Views” (www.varsityviews.com/community/darrylmcgee). Search for the following Title: “CEDARVILLE WINS DOUBLE OVERTIME THRILLER.” As far as what I am writing now, I have to focus on the ensuing game. I cannot backtrack too much. In mere minutes, Cedarville will be hosting fellow Greene County, Ohio Counterpart & Friendly Rival Wilberforce University (WU). For the Lady Bulldogs’ chances of winning tonight’s game (Saturday, December 3, 2016), WU is catching CU at the right time. Wilberforce should consider itself “LUCKY” that the Lady Yellow Jackets won its Double Overtime Game! Whether or not the Lady Yellow Jackets’ last game went to Double Overtime, the Lady Bulldogs did not want to face a CU Women’s Basketball Team which had just lost a game, especially a close game. Had the Lady Yellow Jackets lost, the team would have come into this game with an attitude. The team would have been mad or angry. Last but not least, the Lady Yellow Jackets would have a point (or points) to prove. After winning such a close, thrilling game, CU has to be on CLOUD 9. Is it possible that the Lady Yellow Jackets are taking the Lady Bulldogs lightly? We are about to find out!
Wilberforce won the game’s Official Tip-Off. At 9:55, Ariel Skipper made a 2-Point Basket. Before the first minute was up, Cedarville turned the ball over (9:01). The Lady Bulldogs would not go on to score. At the 8:07 mark, the Lady Yellow Jackets finally scored. Emily Williams made a 2-Point Basket. WU would eventually turn the ball over. That Turnover led to CU’s Breanne Watterworth picking up 2-Points. Eleven seconds later (6:39), Wilberforce’s Brooklynn Peterson made a 2-Point Basket. From 6:19 to 5:46, Cedarville went on a 6-0 Scoring Run. The Lady Yellow Jackets’ Defense had a Block too. With 5:42 on the clock, a Media Timeout was called. The Lady Yellow Jackets lead the Lady Bulldogs 10-4. Cedarville is getting on a roll. As always, REBOUNDING is good. Emily Williams and Breanne Watterworth are getting started. When the game started, Wilberforce was taking it to the Lady Jackets. Wilberforce was the team which was controlling the game.
After the Media Timeout, Cedarville’s Defense made a Block (In The Paint) and a Steal. At 5:09, the Lady Yellow Jackets’ Baylee Bennett nailed a 3-Point Basket. CU would go on to have the ball again. This time, the team committed a Turnover. From 4:09 to 44.0 Seconds, Wilberforce committed 1-Turnover. Cedarville went on a 16-0 Scoring Run. During the run, Regina Hochstetler (5-Points); Taylor Buckley (4-Points); Kaitlyn Holm (4-Points); Breanne Watterworth (2-Points); & Emily Williams (1-Point) each scored points. Before the end of the 1st Quarter, Wilberforce turned the ball over again. At the end of the 1st Quarter, Cedarville possesses a commanding 29-4 Lead. Cedarville is COMPLETELY DOMINATING this game! CU is getting most of the Rebounds. Breanne Watterworth is picking up most of them. Wilberforce is totally confused. The Lady Bulldogs cannot stop the Lady Yellow Jackets’ OFFENSIVE ONSLAUGHT. The Lady Yellow Jackets’ POWERFUL OFFENSE is putting on a SHOW! The Lady Yellow Jackets play with so much precision.
As the 2nd Quarter got underway, Wilberforce had possession of the ball. At 9:49, Jasmine Flowers picked up 2-Points. After Cedarville obtained a Steal, Williams ended up making a 2-Point Basket. Juengel nailed two 3-Point Baskets. With 3:39 remaining in the 2nd Quarter, Cedarville leads Wilberforce 44-12. Seventeen seconds after the Timeout (3:22), Hochstetler nailed a 3-Point Basket. Before CU’s Cameron Peek hit a 3-Point Basket too, WU’s Thomas made 2-Foul Shots. During the First Half’s final 2:34, Cedarville obtained 2-Steals and 1-Block. The Lady Yellow Jackets outscored the Lady Bulldogs 4-2. At the end of the First Half, Cedarville leads Wilberforce 54-16.
Cedarville is in TOTAL DOMINATION MODE! Cedarville is doing everything right. Cedarville is making few mistakes. Wilberforce is doing absolutely nothing right! The Lady Bulldogs is completely confused. Wilberforce’s First Half Play has been filled with nothing but total mistakes and confusion. One thing which has caught my attention is how crisp and smooth Cedarville’s footwork & passing is. It is a display of fine-tune precision. As the 3rd Quarter got underway, Cedarville had possession of the ball. After one possession by each team, the Lady Yellow Jackets had the ball again. Unfortunately, the team ended up committing a Turnover (9:14). From 8:46 to 7:06, each team committed 2-Turnovers. Cedarville outscored Wilberforce 7-2. Baylee Bennett nailed a 3-Point Basket. Watterworth and Williams each scored 2-Points.
From 6:51 to 4:43, Wilberforce committed 3-Turnovers. Cedarville committed 1-Turnover. The Lady Yellow Jackets’ Defense had 1-Block. CU outscored the Lady Bulldogs 6-3. Cedarville’s Juengel scored 4-Points. WU’s Tereah Crowder scored her team’s 3-Points. With 4:43 remaining in the 3rd Quarter, Cedarville leads Wilberforce 67-21. During the 3rd Quarter’s final 4:20, Wilberforce committed 1-Turnover. The Lady Bulldogs’ Defense obtained 2-Steals and 1-Block. The Lady Yellow Jackets had another Turnover too. CU outscored WU 8-5. Bennett scored 3-Points. At the end of the 3rd Quarter, Cedarville leads Wilberforce 75-26. The game has now reached the 4th Quarter. Although Wilberforce is not going to end up winning this game, the Lady Bulldogs have to finish the game.
As the 4th Quarter got underway, Cedarville had possession of the ball. At 9:49, Bennett made a 2-Point Basket. A short time later (9:23), a Media Timeout was called. Before another Media Timeout at 5:18, Wilberforce committed 3-Turnovers. CU committed 1-Turnover. The Lady Yellow Jackets outscored the Lady Bulldogs 9-4. Hochstetler nailed a 3-Point Basket. Kaitlyn Holm (2-Points); Breanne Watterworth (2-Points); & Emily Williams (2-Points) each scored 2-Points. CU leads WU 86-30. From 5:05 to 3:50, Cedarville committed 3-Turnovers. Wilberforce went on a 5-0 Scoring Run. With 3:34 remaining in the game, Juengel nailed a 3-Point Basket. During the game’s final 3:19, Wilberforce committed 2-Turnovers. WU outscored CU 7-6. Wilberforce’s Amari Chalk scored 4-Points. Teammate Tiera Thomas hit a 3-Point Basket. Cedarville’s Anna DeFilippo and Ellie Juengel each nailed a 3-Point Basket. For Wilberforce University, this TOTAL NIGHTMARE has now come to its end! By the Final Score of 95-42, Cedarville University defeated Wilberforce University. On January 31, 2017, these two teams will meet again. Inside of Wilberforce University’s Alumni Multiplex, that game will take place. For that game, the Lady Bulldogs better be adequately prepared. If that is not the case, the results of today’s game will definitely repeat themselves!
