In today’s (Saturday, November 12, 2016) second (and final) game of the first day of the Theresa A. Check Tip-Off Basketball Classic, the Host Team finally gets to play. THE Central State University (CSU) Lady Marauders will be facing former Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) counterpart Salem International University (SIU) Lady Tigers. Just like the Lady Marauders, the Lady Tigers are no longer a G-MAC Member. During this 2016-2017 Season, SIU is competing as an Independent. In the Lady Marauders’ 2-Preseason Games, the young ladies looked really good. CSU won both of those games. After the past two seasons, the Lady Marauders’ Player Roster has taken a significant hit. The team has lost some really good players. Graduation has simply depleted CSU’s Women’s Basketball Program. As far as the basketball team is related, I truly hated to see some of the young women leave (of those who left). On the other hand, I feel very happy and proud to know that they are moving on with their lives. Hopefully, nothing but positivity follows the path which each young lady’s life takes. Take a look at the Lady Marauders’ 2016-2017 Player Roster. Instantly, what do you notice? Not a single Freshman is listed. What does that tell you? It should tell you that the roster has experience. Experience is always a good aspect. Whether good or bad, experience allows you to practice whatever you are doing and/or attempting to accomplish.

Forty seconds after Barrett’s conversion (5:14), CSU’s Offense turned the ball over. At the 4:46 mark, a Media Timeout was called. The score is tied 5-5. As you can tell by the score, neither team is shooting well. Shooting has been bad. It took Central State nearly two minutes to score. For both teams, Turnovers are a problem. Neither team can get any momentum going.

For both teams, this has not been the best quarter. Now, Central State has managed to somewhat get its act together. Salem International is unable to score. The Lady Tigers have had good shots. With 20.8 Seconds remaining, SIU’s Jiahna Flood-Francis made a 2-Point Basket. At the end of the 2nd Quarter, Central State leads Salem International 29-10. Although this has not been the best half of basketball for Central State, Salem International had a miserable First Half! The Lady Tigers are lucky to be trailing by only 19-Points (29-10). The Lady Tigers have taken some good-looking Shot Attempts. On multiple occasions, the Lady Tigers have had uncontested shots. For Salem International, the ball just will not drop through the net.
